Telangana a role model state, praises Governor

Governor E S L Narasimhan said Telangana State has taken up umpteen number of welfare schemes for the poor, minorities, down-trodden and general public and now it is marching towards the goal of Bangaru Telangana. The Governor was addressing the Republic Day parade at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad. He said given this space of progress, the state would soon achieve the goal of golden Telangana. He gave the people, who attended the 69 Republic Day function, the details of various welfare measures that were taken up by the government. Praising the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said Telangana was the role model for other states of the country.

The Governor said the Gross State Domestic Product that was 13.9 last year was raised to 18 per cent and this was clear proof of state making leaps and bounds in every sphere of life. Many steps were taken to remove the poverty of farmers and to make their profession profitable. Besides the development of agriculture, concrete programmes were taken up for expanding infrastructure and strengthening rural economy. The government also set up a record in introducing and implementing the programmes of minorities development. Contrary to the fears expressed on the eve of the 2014 elections, the state is now self-reliant in power generation.

Now when one year or so is left for general elections, the Chief Minister is in a position to take credit for fulfilling almost all promises made by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. However, the opposition parties are leveling all sorts of allegations against the government. These parties are even predicting the defeat of the TRS in coming elections. Retorting them, the TRS leaders are claiming that the ruling party will win the polls hands down and the opposition will meet its waterloo.
