PM Modi fails to criticize China on its backing of terrorism

Narendra Modi spent a better part of his prime ministerial campaign announcing that he will fight terrorism tooth and nail and would protect the Indian Armed Forces against any onslaught of terrorism from across the border.

The terrorist attack on Indian Armed Forces in Pulwama on 14th February depicted a huge flaw in the process of providing security and proper ammunition to the forces. There was also a security breach and a leak of intelligence of the whereabouts of the army convoy. There were reports of Jaish e Muhammad Chief Masood Azhar plotting a terror attack but no measures were taken by the government to prevent or counter those plans from being executed.

After the Pulwama attack, government did lead a surgical strike on the alleged terrorist camps on the soil of Pakistan but Indian government refusing to divulge details about the casualties in the aforesaid strike rings some bells. There were multiple claims ranging from 150 to 400 terrorists being killed but the Indian government has not provided any substantial evidence nor the Pakistan government has vindicated these claims.

Apart from veracity of these claims lying shrouded behind a veil, ruling party is not leaving any stone unturned in cashing on the sacrifices of the martyrs as well as on the bravery of Wing Commander Abhinandan who was captured by Pakistan Army and was later returned to India.

There are reports of BJP workers using the pictures of Wing Commander Abhinandan on their party flag for enticing the voters into a jingoistic wave. Election Commission has condemned ruling party BJP for appropriating Armed Forces and asked social media giant Facebook to remove all such images from its platform.

After the terror group Jaish e Muhammad took responsibility of Pulwama terror attacks, there was huge outrage and outcry not only in India but all across the world to designate Jaish e Muhammad Chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.

The decision of United Nations to blacklist Maulana Masood Azhar as a global terrorist was vetoed by China. This exhibited China’s close association with its ally Pakistan and the terrorism breeding on its soil.

All the self-praise of PM Modi of being an able diplomat and savior of Indian Armed Forces turned out to be mere words when there was no criticism or acknowledgment of this move by the PMO India. All the chest-thumping and hooliganism on the streets on the Airstrikes went silent as soon as China came into play and backed Pakistan.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi rightfully pointed that “Weak Modi is scared of Xi. Not a word comes out of his mouth when China acts against India”.

In a press conference exclusively called for this issue, Chief Spokesperson of Congress Randeep Singh Surjewala also observed that “Blocking of Masood Azhar from being declared as an international terrorist by China is a major setback for the global fight against terrorism. It once again reaffirms the Chinese position of being an inseparable ally of terrorism’s breeding ground i.e Pakistan”.

It came as a surprise to no one that BJP resorted to the only excuse it has of covering up its diplomatic blunders: Nehru. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru played a role in China becoming a permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC).

The incompetence of BJP to handle border disputes and take a strong position against terrorism is no more hidden from the eyes of a common man. This silence of Indian PM over China’s move only makes India look supine on a global scale.
