From next week onwards, Congress will be focusing on increasing its social media reach in order to hit back at the PM Modi’s #MainBhiChowkidar campaign. As per this campaign, PM Modi has changed his name to Chowkidar Narendra Modi, following which many BJP leaders and spokespersons added the prefix Chowkidar to their names on Twitter. The campaign has received mixed response from the people so far.
The Congress is fixated on countering this campaign so it has hired firms like Designboxed, Niksun and Silver Push to drive its media and outdoor campaigns.
The Congress had hired DesignBoxed to draft the digital campaign master plan for last year’s assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, which it won. The party plans to focus on Facebook and WhatsApp for its campaigns and on video content on issues such as jobs, farm distress, the goods and services tax and demonetization.
Congress aims to bring back the focus of the masses on relevant issues like jobs, agrarian distress, GST; demonetization and help people understand how they have been fooled by the false promises of the ruling party BJP.
As per a social media and Indian demographic analyst, “Facebook acts as a bigger influencer compared to Twitter, considering its greater usage by the urban middle class and lower middle class population. When we look at the lower middle class demographic in smaller cities, the male members work and females largely stay at home and are active users of WhatsApp and Facebook. That’s a huge participant base over the last five years and a fresh audience. They’re opinion makers now,”.
